Craig Miller Boating Accident Lake St Clair MI Death, Obituary – Heidi Baldwin And Gerald Grzadzinski Died
Craig Miller, 52, of Macomb Township, Michigan, was among three people who died following a boating collision on Lake St. Clair near MacRay Harbor in Harrison Township on October 7, 2026. He was joined in the tragedy by Heidi Baldwin, 56, of St. Clair Shores, and Gerald Grzadzinski, 64, of Chesterfield Township. Their deaths have brought sorrow to their families, friends and others connected to their lives, as loved ones face the pain of a sudden and devastating loss.
The collision occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, when a 1981 Formula Thunderbird boat collided with a 1991 Sea Ray Sundancer. The Formula Thunderbird capsized and became submerged, prompting an overnight search by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division and its underwater search-and-rescue team. Authorities received a 911 call at approximately 10:48 p.m. after one passenger managed to reach shore and seek help.
A fourth person aboard the capsized boat, a 58-year-old woman from Chesterfield Township, survived after swimming to shore. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries reported to be non-life-threatening. At approximately 5 a.m. Thursday, rescue divers recovered the bodies of Miller, Baldwin and Grzadzinski from the submerged vessel. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
As the community reflects on the tragedy, the names of the three victims represent more than the circumstances of the accident. Each leaves behind personal relationships, shared experiences and memories that cannot be captured fully in reports of what happened that night. The operator of the second boat, a 40-year-old man from Roseville, has been cooperating with investigators.
