Brian Bartow’s sudden passing has left his wife, Chelsea, their children, Gavin and Avery, and a wide circle of family and friends grieving an immeasurable loss in Squamish, British Columbia. Remembered as a devoted husband and father, Brian brought love, encouragement, and adventure into the lives of those closest to him. His death has brought deep sadness to a community that knew him not only for his achievements but also for the warmth and generosity he shared with others.

Family was at the centre of Brian’s world. He cherished his wife and children, encouraging them to embrace new experiences, explore their interests, and approach life with curiosity and confidence. For Gavin and Avery, losing their father means growing up without his daily presence, guidance, and companionship. The memories they made together will remain an important part of their lives, while the love Brian gave them will continue to shape their future.

Brian was also a remarkable athlete whose accomplishments in logger sports earned him recognition and admiration throughout the Squamish community. He was celebrated for his strength, skill, and achievements, but those who paid tribute to him emphasized that his humility and kindness made him equally memorable. He welcomed fellow competitors and newcomers with warmth, demonstrating that genuine greatness is measured not only by records and trophies but also by how a person treats others.

Beyond athletics, Brian was an artist, musician, and entertainer with a creative spirit and an adventurous outlook on life. His family described him as curious, capable, patient, playful, and accepting. He was someone who showed up for the people he loved and contributed to his community in meaningful ways. Friends and fellow athletes will remember his enthusiasm, while those closest to him will hold on to the personal moments that revealed the many sides of his character.

Following Brian’s death, an outpouring of support has surrounded Chelsea and the children. His sister-in-law, Beth Hurford, established the “Carrying Brian’s Love Forward” fundraiser to help Gavin and Avery pursue future opportunities, adventures, and interests while carrying forward the values their father instilled in them. This generosity reflects the many lives Brian touched and the enduring connections he built. Although his passing has left a painful absence, his love for his family and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
