Amy Jo Fields, the 2003 El Paso County Fair Queen from Colorado Springs, is being remembered following news of her passing on October 4, 2026. Her death has brought sadness to family members, friends and people throughout Colorado’s rodeo and agricultural communities. For many, the news marks the loss of a woman whose life was closely connected to horses, youth programs and the western traditions she cherished.

Fields’ journey in the rodeo world began long before she became a familiar face at pageants and community events. Growing up near Falcon, Colorado, she developed a lasting connection to horses and livestock through her family and 4-H activities. Winning the El Paso County Fair Queen title in 2003 became a meaningful milestone, giving her an opportunity to represent a community that had played an important role in her upbringing.

Her involvement continued in the years that followed. In 2005, she was selected as the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Girl of the West, and in 2007 she became Miss Rodeo Colorado, later representing the state at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant, where she placed among the top five contestants. Through these roles, Fields helped promote rodeo, agriculture and the western way of life while meeting people across Colorado and beyond.

Reports from Colorado’s rodeo community say Fields died after a five-month battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Beyond her pageant achievements, she was also remembered for supporting young people involved in 4-H and FFA. The El Paso County Junior Livestock Sale community recognized her contributions in 2026, reflecting her continued commitment to helping young people participate in agricultural traditions and develop their skills.

As loved ones and community members mourn her passing, attention has turned to the many ways Fields made a difference throughout her life. She was remembered not only for the titles she earned but also for her dedication to her family, her support of young people and her enduring connection to Colorado’s rodeo community. Her legacy will remain in the memories of those who knew her and in the traditions she helped carry forward.
